Captain Solomon Okon
Maritime Operation
Solomon Okon is a maritime professional with years of experience and wealth of knowledge. He holds a Class 1 (Master Unlimited) certificate of Competency from Maritime and Coastguard Agency, (UKMCGA), United Kingdom.
He started his seagoing career as a Deck Cadet (DC) at Maritime Academy of Nigeria, (MAN), Oron after which he proceeded to Warsash Maritime Academy, (WMA), Southampton, United Kingdom. After the training phase, he sailed on Nigerian LNG gas tankers and rose through the ranks over the years.
After a successful career at sea, he transitioned to a shore position as Senior Marine Supervisor at Nigeria LNG export Terminal, Bonny Island where he handled various LNG, LPG and Condensate tankers exporting from the terminal.
He later went back to sea to continue his colourful career after his time at the NLNG export terminal, Bonny before taking up the Pilot / Mooring Master position in Shell Petroleum Development Company, a position he occupies till date.
Solomon holds a Master of Science degree in Shipping Operation from Solent University, Southampton, United Kingdom. He is a research student at University of Reading, United Kingdom, where he explores the concept of Cloud Technology and its applications in Maritime Shipping Operations and ship management.
